May Day Drive 6th May 2019
Once again our May Day drive took place from Chadwell Grange near Newport by kind permission of Mr Richard Maddocks and family. We had obviously used up our share of hot weather on Easter Monday and the day was chilly but dry. Nine turnouts took part with either a 16 mile route including a pub stop at Church Eaton or a shorter route of just over 12 miles for the less fit horses (and owners!) Ted Orgill organised a lovely route through quiet roads and pleasant countryside and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the day.
Those taking part were as follows:-
Ted Orgill and Tony Gregory with Ted’s new mare on her first outing
Andrew Virgo and Gillian Wilde with a pair of cobs
Edith Hockenhull with Tally
Bryony and Mike Cowie with Red
Russell and Pat Hand with a coloured pair
Felicity Stubbs and Avril Pluck with Amber
Jennifer Marren and Helen James with Corky
Ian and Debbie Walklet with Zac
Sue and Ian Cole with Sam the Man
Many thanks to Ted Orgill, the Maddocks family and everyone who helped with stewarding – we all appreciate how much effort goes into allowing us to have such a good day.
