On March 17^th BDS Shropshire held a drive around Lake Vyrnwy. Weeks of incessant rain ensured that the dam made an impressive sight as we approached but we had some pleasant spring sunshine between the showers and nobody got too wet.

Seven turnouts met up at the Rhiwargor car park to begin the 12 mile drive around the lake. Those taking part were Bryony and Mike Cowie with Red, Isobel Standen and Honor Arden with part Shire rescue pony Shadow, Russell Hand and family with an impressive team, Jennifer Marren and Helen James with Corky, Felicity Stubbs and Avril Pluck with Georgie, Edith Hockenhull and Tania with Tally and Gwen Wigley and John George with Hillgarth Sun Dancer.

After everyone was safely back in the car park (fortunately before the gate by the cattle grid was blocked by a parked car!) we had the customary picnic and presentation of rosettes with the socialising only brought to a close when rain stopped play. Well, we needed it…
